Calgary, AB (Sports Network) - Joe Sakic's goal with 5:19 left in regulation was the game winner, as Colorado kept its playoff hopes alive with a 4-3 win over Calgary at Pengrowth Saddledome.

Sakic added three assists for the Avalanche, who have won four of their last five games. Brett Clark had a goal and a helper, and Brad Richardson and Paul Stastny also tallied.

Peter Budaj made just 18 saves to earn the win.

Jeff Friesen, Roman Hamrlik and Daymond Langkow scored for the Flames, who saw their six-game win streak snapped and fell to 30-8-2 at home.

Jarome Iginla posted two assists and Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 19 shots in the loss.

Nursing a one-goal lead late in the game, Sakic provided the Avalanche with a crucial insurance goal to make it a 4-2 when his shot from the slot bounced through Kiprusoff's pads and trickled into the net. It was his 609th career goal, moving him one ahead of Dino Ciccarelli.

Langkow's open-net power-play goal with 2:39 to go brought the Flames back within a goal, 4-3, but the Avs stifled every Calgary rush from that point on to escape with their 42nd win of the season.

Colorado has 91 points, five behind Calgary in the battle for the eighth and final playoff berth in the Western Conference. Both clubs have three games remaining including a blizzard-postponed contest in Denver on April 8.

Well Flames have a game with Sharks then Oilers, I highly doubt that they'll lose both.
