SAINT JOHN, N.B. (CP) - Bob (Tipper) LeBlanc has resigned as general manager of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Saint John Sea Dogs, the club announced Wednesday.

LeBlanc, 55, will remain in the organization as a consultant until his contract expires in June. He joined the Sea Dogs in January, 2005 after retiring as a high school vice-principal.

"The general manager's position is very demanding, physically and emotionally," LeBlanc explained in a statement. "It's a 24-seven job. I always told myself when it became a job, I would really have to look at it.

"At this stage of my life, it has become a job. I have to do what's best for me and the Sea Dogs organization."
