Buffalo began the season with an NHL-record-tying 10 straight wins, before losing a 5-4 shootout tilt to Atlanta on October 28. The Sabres rebounded with a 5-4 shootout win over Boston on Thursday, but dropped a 4-1 tilt to visiting Toronto on Saturday.

In Saturday's defeat, Mats Sundin scored twice and added an assist to lift the Maple leafs. Toronto tallied three goals in the second period to provide the difference.

Jochen Hecht scored the Sabres lone tally while Ryan Miller made 29 saves in Buffalo's second straight home loss. Lindy Ruff's club is a perfect 7-0-0 on the road.

There was more bad news for Buffalo, as forward Maxim Afinogenov left the game with an upper body injury.
