(Sports Network) - The Buffalo Sabres try to break out of their first real slump of the season tonight when they welcome the Tampa Bay Lightning to HSBC Arena.

Buffalo has lost two of its last three games, with both defeats coming at the hands of Ottawa. On Saturday the Sabres were handed a 4-1 loss by the host Senators, as Peter Schaefer and Dany Heatley each tallied a goal and an assist to lead the winning effort.

Maxim Afinogenov bagged the only goal for the Sabres, as he played his second game after missing five with a separated shoulder. Afinogenov netted his 10th goal of the season, which ranks fourth on the team.

Goaltender Ryan Miller returned to the lineup for Buffalo after missing the previous six games with an abdominal strain and was touched for four goals on 41 shots.

Buffalo, which leads the Northeast Division by seven points over second-place Toronto, begins a three-game homestand tonight and will host the Maple Leafs on Wednesday.

They were up 7-1 over the Lighting last I saw. I guess they've gotten out of their 'funk' of losing 2 out of 3.
They sure got out of their funk.
But Denis 7 goals in about 16 minutes . What is going on?!!! Not sure why Torts didn't pull him, Holmqvist could have finished the game and maybe finish it in a less embarrassing way? :dunno:
They Did It !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Sabres
