(Sports Network) - The Buffalo Sabres try to notch the best start in franchise history tonight when they visit the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre.

The Sabres check in at 8-0, tying the team record set in 1975-76. On Saturday, Chris Drury scored twice and Brian Campbell had three assists as Buffalo remained the NHL's only unbeaten team with a 6-2 victory over the Boston Bruins.

The NHL record for longest winning streak from the start of a season is 10 games, established by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1993-94.

Thomas Vanek scored once and had two assists for the Sabres, who have won 13 straight regular season contests overall going back to April 7.

Buffalo's Maxim Afinogenov had a goal and an assist against the Bruins and leads the NHL with 15 points overall.

Drury, meanwhile, is tied with Atlanta's Marian Hossa for the league lead with nine goals.

The Sabres will visit the NY Islanders on Thursday.

Montreal has won two of its last three games. On Saturday, Sheldon Souray notched a four-point night and Montreal netted the game's last three goals to win a wild affair with Colorado, 8-5.
