Sabres resume trek in Tampa

(Sports Network) - The Buffalo Sabres continue their current road trip tonight when they visit the Tampa Bay Lightning at St. Pete Times Forum.

The Sabres, who are 11-2-0 away from home, began the trek on Saturday and lost a 7-4 match in Washington. Matt Pettinger scored two goals to lift the Capitals, who took command early with four goals in the first period.

Chris Drury and Thomas Vanek each had a goal and an assist for the Sabres, who had a two-game winning streak ended

Ryan Miller started in net, but was pulled during the first period after allowing three goals on nine shots. Martin Biron finished the game and stopped 15-of-18 shots

The Sabres have now lost two of their last three road games after beginning the season 10-0-0 away from HSBC Arena.

Buffalo, which remains atop the East with 42 points, plays the second portion of a five-game trek tonight and will visit Florida on Thursday.

Tampa Bay, meanwhile, has lost three straight games after winning three-in-a- row. On Saturday the Bolts dropped a 5-2 tilt in Ottawa, as Antoine Vermette scored two goals to lift the Senators.
