(Sports Network) - The Buffalo Sabres shoot for a 4-0 start tonight when they visit the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena.

The Sabres are 3-0 for the third time in franchise history, and first time since the lockout-shortened 1994-95 campaign. The team record for consecutive wins to open a season is eight, set in 1975-76.

Last Saturday, Martin Biron made 34 saves and Chris Drury tallied a goal and an assist to lead the Sabres to a 4-3 victory over the Ottawa Senators at Scotiabank Place.

Biron made his first start of the season for Buffalo, as Ryan Miller manned the net in the first two outings.

Jason Pominville scored his second goal of the season and Daniel Briere finished with two assists for the Sabres. Buffalo is once again showcasing its balance this season, as eight players have combined to score the team's 10 goals so far.

The Sabres, who surprised most by advancing to the Eastern Conference finals last spring, will host the NY Rangers on Saturday night.
