(Sports Network) - The Buffalo Sabres will try to continue their amazing start to the season when they welcome the Toronto Maple Leafs to HSBC Arena tonight.
The Sabres are 11-0-1 this year and are one of just two teams in the NHL without a regulation loss this season (Anaheim). Buffalo has 23 points and holds a six-point edge over Montreal and Toronto for first place in the Northeast Division.
Buffalo was dealt a shootout loss by Atlanta on October 28 and rebounded with a win Thursday night in Boston. Ales Kotalik's goal with 1:35 left in the third period tied the game, and then his goal in the shootout proved to be the difference as the Sabres erased a three-goal deficit in the third period to beat the Bruins, 5-4.
Maxim Afinogenov scored two goals for the Sabres, while goaltender Ryan Miller finished with 30 saves.
Jason Pominville also added a goal for Buffalo, giving him one in each of his last six games. He has nine points (6g, 3a) during that span.
