Can't wait for tomorrow night!

Good work on the graphic. I love the symmetry.

It drives me crazy that we are playing a team owned by the league. It also drives me crazy that, once again, teams have been warned against goalie interference. You know that means at least one important goal called back on the Wings, despite no real interference happening. Not looking forward to this, I think it is going to be a refereeing fiasco.

Anyways, I think Phoenix in 7.

And just a disclaimer, this is a part of my playoff ritual. Bitch about the impending bad reffing, and predict the Wings to loose. And only letting the Wings board know about this ritual.

Dammit! Coyotes score nine seconds into their first power play. Good screen by Doan.

Wolski ties it at 2 with a man advantage.

Lesson learned: don't go down a man.

Tied at 2 after two periods. This has been a more intense game than I expected. Both teams are playing their hearts out. I've never seen so many guys finish their checks... what a pleasure to watch!

Three out of three Coyotes goals came on the power play. We'll see if Detroit has an answer for that next game, either by playing their typical, strong penalty kill or by taking fewer penalties.

I couldn't believe Shane Doan. That guy was everywhere, throwing hips and shoulders left and right. He was an animal last night.

"Red Wings will play Justin Abdelkader over Jason Williams"
Helene St. James said:
In an effort to instill a greater physical presence, Detroit Red Wingscoach Mike Babcock will insert Justin Abdelkader into the lineup for Game 2 against the Phoenix Coyotes on Friday. The Wings lost Game 1, 3-2.

Abdelkader, a hardnosed center, skated today between Kris Draper and Drew Miller. Abdelkader and Miller played on the same team in 2005-06 at Michigan State. Jason Williams is the odd man out, as every other line remains status quo...

Good. There's no word other than 'disappointment' for Williams.

Also, what's with playing him on the second powerplay unit? It's not like Stuart and Ericsson are completely useless in that aspect. One of Lidstrom or Rafalski could probably double shift on the second unit if we really need them to.

I'd rather see Stuart or Ericsson than Williams, Lidstrom, or Rafalski. Williams has done nothing and Lidstrom and Rafalski need to use that time to take a breather.

By the way I changed to the Abdelkader avatar in hopes it might bring some good luck.
