Sweden 6, Slovakia 3

Martin Johansson started a run of three Swedish goals in five minutes with his power-play marker at 4:15 of the third period to lead the host country in a 6-3 win over Slovakia at the world junior hockey championship Thursday.

Patric Hornqvist, at 8:41, and Robin Lindqvist, at 9:05, added insurance markers at Mora's FM Matsson Arena to help Sweden improve to 1-1.

Patrik Berglund, Linus Omark and Niklas Hjalmarsson also scored as Sweden moved into a tie for second with idle Germany (1-1) in Pool A.

Canada, which was also off, leads the group at 2-0.

At Mora, Vladimir Mihalik, Ondrej Mikula and Juraj Mikus for Slovakia (0-2), which is last in Pool A. They are one point behind the winless Americans (0-1-1), who gained a point from an overtime loss to Germany on Tuesday.

Russia 6, Switzerland 0

At Leksand, Semen Varlamov made 25 saves and Ilya Zubov's goal early in the second period stood as the winner to help keep Russia atop Pool B.

Vyacheslav Voinov, Artem Anisimov, Evgeni Ryasensky, Igor Makarov and Alexander Bumagin also scored for the 2-0 Russians.

Reto Berra made 38 saves for the Swiss, now 1-1.

Finland 6, Czech Republic 2

At Mora, Teemu Laakso scored two goals as the Finns improved to 2-1.

Mikko Lehtonen, Leo Komarov, Jonas Enlund and Oskar Osala also scored for Finland, which broke open a close game with three goals in the third period.

Tomas Kana and Vladimir Sobotka replied for the Czechs, who fell to 0-3.
