After two trips through the waiver wire this season, centre Petr Nedved is set to return to the National Hockey League with the Ottawa Senators.

The Philadelphia Inquirer and Ottawa Sun report that the Flyers have placed the veteran centre on re-entry waivers so that Senators general manager John Muckler can claim his services.

Nedved is on waivers until Noon et on Tuesday.

The Senators have been riddled by injuries this season, with forwards Antoine Vermette, Mike Fisher and Jason Spezza already out of the lineup.

In 21 games this season, Nedved has one goal, seven points and is a minus-20. The 35-year-old, who has been playing with the AHL's Philadelphia Phantoms, was acquired by the Flyers in January from the Phoenix Coyotes and is making $2.356 million

Yes I heard about this on the way home from the game today.

They said we should know by noon tomorrow, January 2, 2007.

I'm not sure how I feel about this? I don't like Nedved, never have, but Ottawa needs help, and hopefully, if this does go through, he can help them out?

I don't think he will help, he couldn't help Philly and they are the worst team in the NHL. But maybe with a better team in front of him he will do some good?

Guys don't forget that he will be an UFA this off season and when Spezz and Fischer get back in the lineup he cane just put him back on waivers.:D Muckler is just trying to make him help Ottawa in the short-term.

Edmonton picked him up today.
Yup. I don't think aqcuiring him would have helped ottawa out anyway, so it's good they missed the chance with the Oilers suddenly deciding to take him back...

Which I think is odd for a guy like Kevin Lowe to do, seeing as he is well aware of the fact that the last time he was trying to get him signed back to the team, Nedved's wife told him that she would divorce him if he stayed in Edmonton.

She fears that it would interfere with her modeling career. :dunno: That's the only reason why he wasn't back with the Oilers after they aquired him in 2004 (him getting 15 Points in 16 games)

And no, I'm not kidding. What on Earth were they thinking?! :thumbsdow

I don't think he would have helped Ottawa either!! I believe he would have upset the team rather than help it in any way. I'm really glad they didn't get him.

He has to big of an ego to be on the team. I still remember him saying that he was, if not better, than Gretzky, wasn't that a joke!!!
