DETROIT (AP) - Detroit right wing Jason Williams was taken off the ice on a stretcher and left Joe Louis Arena in an ambulance in the second period of the Red Wings' game against Edmonton on Wednesday night.

After Williams tried to scored on a wraparound attempt midway through the period, the Oilers' Raffi Torres leveled him with a hard shoulder check to the face. Williams went flying to the ice and appeared to land on his face. He then lay motionless in the corner.

I saw the hit. It was clean, but it got him good.

I once made a topic about this. It could pop up again soon, not that I'm saying Torres meant to take him out though. It looked like a regular hit, just got him on the jaw.

I think Williams will be okay.
