(Sports Network) - The Detroit Red Wings will try to halt a five-game losing streak tonight when they welcome the Dallas Stars to Joe Louis Arena.

The Red Wings have dropped five straight directly on the heels of a franchise- record tying nine-game winning streak. Detroit is officially 0-2-3 during the skid, having lost three of the games after regulation, but it has still fallen four points behind Nashville for the top spot in the Central Division.

Detroit's most recent setback during the slide came Saturday evening against the Predators. Marek Zidlicky scored a goal and had two assists, as Nashville used a five-goal second period to earn the 6-2 home victory over the Red Wings.

Joey MacDonald gave up six goals on 27 shots for the slumping Red Wings. Robert Lang had a goal and an assist and Henrik Zetterberg also tallied for Detroit.

MacDonald, who is on the roster as a replacement for the injured Chris Osgood, was making just his third NHL start. Osgood, the backup goaltender to No. 1 netminder Dominik Hasek, is out for three-to-four weeks with a fractured left wrist. Hasek is expected to be back between the pipes for tonight's contest.

Unlike Detroit, the Stars have put together a winning streak recently, as they have earned victories in each of their last three games. Dallas came up with the latest triumph Friday evening against the visiting Los Angeles Kings.
