(Sports Network) - The Detroit Red Wings shoot for their third consecutive victory, as they welcome the Los Angeles Kings to Joe Louis Arena on New Year's Eve.

The Red Wings have played a home game on December 31 in all but three years since 1957. They were on the road in 1994, 1996 and 2004. Detroit is 27-20-7 all-time in New Year's Eve home games and has won five straight.

Detroit's latest victory came Thursday night in Columbus. Daniel Cleary had a hat trick, tallying the game-winning goal with 5:19 remaining in regulation as the Red Wings needed a late rally to defeat the Blue Jackets, 7-4, at Nationwide Arena.

Pavel Datsyuk also had a pair of goals, while Robert Lang added three assists for Detroit, which has won four of its last five games. The Red Wings were bolstered by the return of Lang, who was back in the lineup after exiting Wednesday's game against Minnesota with the flu.

Henrik Zetterberg and Danny Markov also scored and Chris Osgood made 21 saves between the pipes.

Tonight marks the first of two in a row at home for the Red Wings, who are 12-3-3 in Motown this year.

The Kings, meanwhile, are coming off Friday's road loss to Calgary. Kristian Huselius' two late scores helped the Flames escape with the 6-4 win at the Saddledome.
