(Sports Network) - The Detroit Red Wings aim for their sixth consecutive victory this evening, when they visit the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena.
The Red Wings extended their win streak to five games Wednesday night, as they defeated Nashville, 5-3. Henrik Zetterberg scored twice and added an assist to lead Detroit to the important win at Joe Louis Arena.
The triumph enabled the Red Wings to move within two points of Central Division-leading Nashville, but the Predators won Thursday night against Columbus to push that edge back to four.
Pavel Datsyuk registered four assists and Tomas Holmstrom picked up a goal and one helper for the Red Wings.
The line of Zetterberg, Holmstrom and Datsyuk collected nine points on the night. Zetterberg and Holmstrom each have six-game point streaks, while Datsyuk has reached the scoresheet in five straight tilts.
Jiri Hudler added his second goal in as many nights and Dominik Hasek had an easy game for Detroit, requiring only 14 saves to earn his 25th win of the year.
The Red Wings, who are 13-9-2 as the visitor this year, begin a three-game road trip tonight.
The Blue Jackets were handed a 4-0 setback in Nashville on Thursday, as Chris Mason turned aside all 33 shots fired his way to record his fifth shutout of the season.
Ty Conklin allowed four goals on 26 shots for the slumping Blue Jackets, who have dropped five of their last six games.
