(Sports Network) - The Detroit Red Wings will try to get back on track this evening, when they pay a visit to the Los Angeles Kings at the Staples Center.
The Red Wings, who come into Saturday trailing Nashville by two for the Central Division lead, had a four-game winning streak halted in a big way Thursday at San Jose. Ryane Clowe and Mike Grier both scored two goals, as the Sharks erased an early three-goal deficit and pounded Detroit, 9-4, at HP Pavilion.
Jiri Hudler, Tomas Holmstrom and Jason Williams scored for Detroit. Dominik Hasek allowed eight goals against 28 shots and left the game with 8:22 remaining in regulation. Chris Osgood faced only three shots but let in a goal.
Henrik Zetterberg notched an assist in the loss to extend his point streak to eight games, the longest current stretch in the NHL. Zetterberg has four goals and five helpers during the run.
The Red Wings, who are 11-7-2 as the visitor this year, are playing the second test of a five-game Western road trip tonight.
Detroit will again be without defenseman Chris Chelios, who has missed four straight games with a shin injury. The 44-year-old also has remained in Detroit because of the recent stabbing deaths of two employees in a bar that he owns.
Red Wings forward Pavel Datsyuk has missed two straight games with a groin injury and is questionable for tonight's test.
