I dont see a problem keeping the team here. We support our Preds. I will be surprised if the Preds were to move.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The owners of the Nashville Predators have reached an agreement to play hockey in Nashville for at least two more years.
The Tennessean reported that the local ownership group waived its early termination clause through June 2012 in an agreement with the Metro Sports Authority, which serves as the city's landlord at the Bridgestone Arena.
Three years ago, the team was nearly sold to an out-of-state owner and financial troubles have plagued the ownership group, including a $3.3 million federal tax lien against lead owner David Freeman.
In addition, California investor William "Boots" Del Biaggio, who has a 26 percent stake in the team, was convicted of fraud last year.
Under the clause in their lease, the team could have left as early as May, but on Friday, Predators Chairman Tom Cigarran said they wanted the team to stay in Nashville for a long time
