(Sports Network) - The Nashville Predators had quite a pleasant trip to the New York metropolitan area this past week.

Nashville opened a three-game swing against Atlantic Division teams by gutting out a 2-1 shootout win over the New York Islanders on Monday. Two days later, the Preds received a stellar performance out of goaltender Tomas Vokoun in a 3-0 decision over the Rangers before concluding their East Coast voyage with another shootout victory, a 4-3 triumph at New Jersey on Thursday.

After opening the season with three straight losses, the Predators have now won four straight overall and currently sit tied with surprising Chicago for first place in the Central Division.

The streak has been fueled by much-improved play from the defense and Vokoun, who has yielded only two goals over his last three starts after letting up 13 in back-to-back defeats to Chicago and Minnesota to begin the year.

The standout netminder was at his best against the Rangers, stopping all 38 shots he faced to record his 17th career shutout.
