(Sports Network) - The Nashville Predators try to continue their recent surge tonight when they welcome the Minnesota Wild to the Gaylord Entertainment Center.

Nashville has won two straight and seven of its last eight games. On Wednesday, David Legwand scored two goals and had an assist as Nashville edged Columbus, 5-4, in Ohio.

Scott Nichol netted the game-winning goal and Paul Kariya and Jason Arnott each finished with two assists for the Predators. Tomas Vokoun finished with 29 saves in the win.

With 23 points, the Preds are two behind red-hot Detroit in the race for first in the Central Division standings.

Nashville, which is 3-1-1 at home, will host Columbus on Saturday to begin a home-and-home.

Minnesota, meanwhile, has lost its last two games. On Tuesday the Wild dropped a 4-3 decision to host Phoenix, as Oleg Saprykin's second goal of the game was the decisive tally.
