CALGARY (CP) - Alex Poulter scored twice and James Reimer made 21 saves Thursday as the Red Deer Rebels blanked the Calgary Hitmen 4-0 in Western Hockey League action.
Martin Hanzal and Kirill Starkov scored power-play goals for Red Deer. One of Poulter's goals also came on a mad advantage as the Rebels converted three of eight power-play chances.
With the victory, Red Deer (23-15-3-4) moves into third place ahead of Calgary (24-16-0-3) in the Central Division of the WHL.
Hanzal scoring at the at the 4:07 mark of the first period with his 17th goal of the season.
Calgary tried to climb back into the game during the second period, outshooting Red Deer by a 10-4 margin. However, neither team could score as they traded power play chances during a chippy 20 minutes of play.
The Rebels pulled further ahead 1:31 into the third when Poulter scored his first goal of the game with Calgary's Ryan White serving a four-minute high sticking penalty.
Starkov scored his 24th goal three minutes later during another Rebels power play to put the game out of reach.
