I thought this would be an interesting topic.
Looking back a few years, I remembered that there was a time there were more Leafs on the team that I didn't like than I did.
The team is more "likeable" t me now, but even so there are a few guys on the team that I just never want to see on the ice for them anymore.
The main ones being Wade Belak, Bryan McCabe, and Ben Ondrus.
Belak is one of those "versatile" players in the elague, but only to the media IMO. He can't play well on defence (It's always a disaster, despite numerous experimentations), and he can't play on offence to save his life. All he can do is fight, while other players who bring more to the team are kept out of the line-up in his place.
Ondrus... no offence to him, but I think he hurts the team everywhere. He's sid to bring "energy", yet all I ever see are penaltied, give-aways and bad defencive play, and nothing in the terms of offence chances at all.
And McCabe... well, I'll try to keep this short: He as is a hard slapshot... and that's ALL. $5.75M for a defenceman that can only get points. He sure isn't anything decent on the position he's meant to play, and paid to play. I'll admit though, he's been okay s of late, and I haven't had much to complait about him for in the last week. I'd want his game to keep going that way, but he's 32 years old... is it not already too late?
There are also player s that, though they try, they don't have as much of in impact on the team that they should. I mean Nik Antropov, who is either playing well, in a scoring slump or is injured... and I don't just mean a minor injury. I mean, he goes out for weeks at a time, yet he seems to have a preserved spot in the line-up on the top line. It's been that way for years. (Whether it's Quinn or Maurice) I'd really liek to see Jeremy Williams or Robbie Earl get a chance with Toronto sometime, but that doesn't look to be happening this year.
Well... go ahead and give yours.
