(Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Penguins are expected to welcome their latest phenom to the lineup tonight when they host the New Jersey Devils at Mellon Arena.

Evgeni Malkin, the second-overall pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, is slated to make his regular season debut for the club after missing most of the preseason and the start of the campaign with a dislocated left shoulder.

Malkin spent last season playing in Russia, tallying 21 goals and 26 assists in 46 games for Magnitogorsk in 2005-06. Malkin's presence in the center rotation behind Sidney Crosby gives the Penguins a potential dynamic in the middle that few teams have had.

The Penguins have lost two of their last three games, including Saturday's 5-1 loss to Carolina. Scott Walker scored two goals to lead the Hurricanes.

Marc-Andre Fleury allowed three goals on 20 shots and left midway through the second period with a head injury. Backup Jocelyn Thibault replaced Fleury and finished with 12 saves.

Kristopher Letang tallied the lone goal for the Penguins.

The Penguins will visit the NY Islanders on Thursday.
