The Canadiens played the second test of the swing Wednesday evening in Washington and earned a 4-1 victory. Cristobal Huet stopped 30 shots to help the Habs defeat the Capitals.
Sheldon Souray had a goal and an assist and Mathieu Dandenault, Aaron Downey and Saku Koivu each added a goal for the Canadiens, who have won six of their last seven games.
The Canadiens, who are 10-5-2 away from Montreal this year, complete the trek Saturday in Tampa.
Florida is also coming off a win Wednesday over the visiting Philadelphia Flyers. Rostislav Olesz posted a goal and an assist and Ed Belfour made 23 saves to lead Florida over Philadelphia, 3-1.
