(Sports Network) - A pair of struggling teams square off this evening at Nassau Coliseum as the New York Islanders host the Florida Panthers.

The Islanders have lost three of their last four games and suffered a 3-0 defeat to the red-hot Buffalo Sabres on Thursday. Isles goaltender Rick DiPietro blocked 24 of 27 shots in the setback.

New York was in action for the first time since defeating the Carolina Hurricanes 4-3 in overtime on Saturday. The Islanders, though, were offensively inept versus Buffalo and will try to rebound at home against the Panthers.

The Isles are playing the sixth contest of a seven-game homestand which concludes Tuesday against Chicago. New York is 2-2-1 so far on the swing.

Florida, meanwhile, has dropped three of four and five of its last seven games. New Jersey handed the Panthers a 2-0 loss on Thursday at Continental Airlines Arena.

New Jersey had six power plays, including a 61-second, two-man advantage, and scored both of its goals with the extra skater.
