Did anyone else read the article in the hockey news about the Florida Panthers upcoming pre-season schedule? The team will be travelling something like 12,000 KM in a few weeks! Interm GM, Randy Sexton, as well as a Panthers Marketing director was saying pre-season hockey is a tough sell in Florida so it makes financial sense to do this... Hockey is just a tough sell in Florida!

But for real, 12,000 km of travel in a few weeks is going to make Florida really tired out of the gates. They have typically had a lot of travel in their pre-season because of the lack of demand for pre-season hockey in Florida, but they have consistantly done so poorly in the regular season out of the gates that they may want to re-evaluate this strategy.
