TORONTO (Ticker) -- Ed Belfour is hoping to get the start and bounce back from a disappointing effort when he competes against some familiar faces.

Belfour may get the starting assignment in goal for the Florida Panthers when they play the second contest of a two-game road swing Monday against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

After going 93-61-4 with 11 ties and a 2.51 ERA in three seasons with Toronto, the 41-year-old Belfour signed as a free agent with Florida after the Maple Leafs acquired Boston Bruins goaltender Andrew Raycroft.

Belfour is second on the all-time victories list (457) and helped the Dallas Stars win the Stanley Cup in 1999. However, he missed the final 19 games of last season with a herniated disk in his back.

I think Eddie probably should have hung them up after last season but I'll be cheering for him most nights this year.

If he plays against the Leafs, something tells me he'll summon an incredable performance and show the ACC he's still Edd-ie, Edd-ie.

I think with Belfour in net tonight, Florida will win!!! Not because he's good, but because he wants to prove to them that he still has what it takes!!!

Belfour was benched tonight in place of Alex Auld.

Good choice? Perhaps. Auld was awesome, facing 48 shots and only allowing one, before losing in the shootout.

What a finish. That shot by Tucker in the 3rd... I couldn't beliee my eyes. That was an unbelieveable save. I thought it'd be a sure goal.

Kudos to him for stealing a point. The rest of the Panthers team looked like they wanted the night off.
