Did anyone watch the Captials VS Sabres game? It was quite rough. YouTube - Alexander Ovechkin hit on Daniel Briere DEC/02/2006 that will explain it. I think Ovechkin just meant to give him a little bump but he went a little to far. It was a late firty hit. Ovy better keep his head up against the Sabres now.

10 games is a little extreme. What do you mean he's hitting to much? Thats the only "dirty" hit I can think of that he has done. All the other ones have been clean. He shouldn't stop hitting players its part of the game! That's also what makes him an exciting player to watch the big hits he makes.oilers said:

Hitting is a part of the game , and good for him thats hes doing it, players will fear him even more now because of his amazing talent and he doesnt back down, He will finish his checks. and 10 games come on thats crazy that would never happen. i wouldent suspend him at all. The only reason i think you voted to suspend him is because you dont like him.oilers said:

Yea your right, the fines won't teach them anything. It was a dirty hit but I think he just meanr to give him a little nudge, he did not intend on hitting him from behind, nor injuring him. I think it was an honest mistake. You should have seen him after the game, he was very depressed so at least he knows. I hope that doesn't stop him from hitting because he is a great hitter.habs11s said:

Alright i changed my mind. I just saw the hit clearly on sportscenter and it was sorta dirty. If briere was facing Ovie it would have been clean because then he would have been just finishing his check. The hit came no later than 2 seconds after breiere dumped the puck in. No suspension shoulld be given IMO, but yea i only saw the Youtube part of that hit and it didnt show anything clearly at all.

I'm a huge fan of Alexander Ovechkin, but as much as I like the guy, he shouldn't have been able to get away with that.
It was a dirty hit, and a dirty hit should equal a suspension. There should be no star treatment, and anything less than at least 1 game for what he did should be considered as yet another slap on the wrist by the NHL.

very true, hes such a nice guy he didnt have his hands free to open the door for his teammates so he deiced to go head first.
