TORONTO (CP) - The Oshawa Generals, Kitchener Rangers, Kingston Frontenacs, London Knights, Saginaw Spirit and Sarnia Sting all want to host the 2008 Memorial Cup.

The six clubs have submitted letters of intent to bid for the tournament to the Ontario Hockey League, which will announce a short-list of teams March 6.

The teams that make the cut will make formal bid presentations April 18 and the host team will be announced May 7.

The 2007 Memorial Cup will be May 10-27 in Vancouver and will include the host Giants as well as the champions from the Western, Ontario and Quebec major junior hockey leagues.

The OHL's selection committee includes Paul Beeston, former chief executive officer of Major League Baseball, Frank Bonello, former Director of Central Scouting for the National Hockey League, NHL vice-president of hockey operations Jim Gregory and NHL consultant Brian O'Neill.

The deadline to submit letters of intent was Monday.

The 2006 Memorial Cup was hosted by the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Moncton Wildcats.
