(Sports Network) - Two clubs in the highly-competitive Northwest Division tangle tonight when the Colorado Avalanche welcome the Edmonton Oilers to the Pepsi Center.

All five clubs in the Northwest have at least four points in the early going. The Oilers have won two of their first three games, while Colorado is 1-0-2.

On Thursday, Ryan Smyth scored his fifth-career hat trick in a 2:01 span of the third period to lead the Oilers over the San Jose Sharks, 6-4, at Rexall Place.

Patrick Thoresen, Joffrey Lupul and Ales Hemsky also scored for the Oilers. Steve Staios and Petr Sykora each added a pair of assists, while Dwayne Roloson stopped 19-of-23 shots.

Smyth netted his first three goals of the season, and helped the Oilers rally from a 4-2 deficit. Overall they scored four unanswered goals in the third to take the win.

Edmonton will visit Vancouver on Monday.
