(Sports Network) - The Edmonton Oilers open a five-game road trip tonight when they visit the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre.

Edmonton has lost two straight and four of its last five games, including Friday's 3-2 decision to visiting Dallas. Marty Turco made 24 saves to anchor the Stars' effort, but the contest did end with some controversy.

With under five seconds to go they Oilers thought they tied the game after Ales Hemsky poked in a rebound following a faceoff. Referee Mick McGeough, however, waved the goal off saying his whistle blew after Edmonton center Shawn Horcoff drew the puck back with his glove and not his stick, making the play dead. Replays showed that what McGeough called didn't happen, something he admitted after the match.

Oilers head coach Craig MacTavish expressed his discontent with what occurred after the match, and was eventually fined $10,000 by the NHL for his actions.

Ryan Smyth and Petr Sykora tallied the goals for the Oilers, while Dwayne Roloson allowed three goals on 26 shots in the loss.

The Oilers, who are 1-4-0 on the road, will visit Detroit on Wednesday.
