Toronto-The Ontario Hockey League today announced the OHL Academic Players of the Month for November.
West Division - The OHL Academic Player of the Month for November in the West Division is left winger Joe Gaynorof the Plymouth Whalers Hockey Club. Joe, 17, a native of Goderich, Ontario, is a Grade 12 student at Plymouth High School in Plymouth.
Midwest Division - The OHL Academic Player of the Month for November in the Midwest Division is left winger Derrick Bagshawof the Erie Otters Hockey Club. Bagshaw, 20, a native of Oshawa, Ontario is a 3rd year student at Gannon University in Erie.
Central Division - The OHL Academic Player of the Month for November in the Central Division is defenseman Brian Lashoff of the Barrie Colts Majors Hockey Club. Lashoff, 16, a native of East Greenbush, New York is a Grade 11 student at Innisdale Secondary School in Barrie.
East Division - The OHL Academic Player of the Month for November in the East Division is defenseman P.K. Subban of the Belleville Bulls Hockey Club. Subban, 17, a native of Toronto, Ontario, is a Grade 12 student a Quinte Secondary School in Belleville.
Each month, the OHL recognizes a player from each Division who is striving to reach his full potential in his educational program while playing in the Ontario Hockey League.
More than 97% of the players currently playing in the Ontario Hockey League are attending high school or post-secondary institutions. For the 2005-06 playing season, 239 OHL graduates are currently attending Canadian universities on scholarships from their OHL teams.
