The third time really was the charm for centre Petr Nedved.
Sources tell TSN that after two previous trips through the waiver wire this season, Nedved was claimed on re-entry waivers from the Philadelphia Flyers by the Edmonton Oilers.
It was reported earlier in the week by the Philadelphia Inquirer and Ottawa Sun that Senators would claim him, but the Oilers who are below the Senators in the standings took him first.
Nedved played 16 games for the Oilers in 2003-04 after being acquired from the Rangers in a trade deadline deal. He recorded 15 points in his stint, and subsequently signed with the Phoenix Coyotes in the off-season.
The Oilers are in last place in the Northwest Division and are hoping Nedved and provide a spark to their offence which is ranked 24th in total goals.
