Very interesting player here still not signed. I definitely think he deserves a NHL contract and could help which ever, if any, team takes a chance on him. He is a top 9, even top 6 guy depending on the team and I would have to imagine he would sign for pretty cheap. With talk of Yashin coming back to the NHL I don't get why Zherdev can't find a team. What are everyone else's thoughts on him?

For some reason everyone rs to be infatuated when a guy wants to come back to the NHL from the KHL. Personally, I'd go Zherdev everyday of the week and twice on Sundays. I think Philly might have been a bad fit for Nik and I think he could do a lot on some other teams that lack scoring power on the wings. And I think he could be signed for a pretty low price after not performing that well this past season. I feel like he'd be a great fit on a team like the Penguins.

Yeah, and then kill the Flyers all the time.

I agree with the opinion that Zherdev has a bunch of talent, he just needs to find the right team that can provide the chemistry to put that talent to its fullest extent. As for which team(s) that may be, it's hard to say. I think you're taking a gamble with him, but, like it was said previously, that gamble can't be that costly, especially after his performance last season. You'd have to be able to pick him up pretty cheap. I can't understand why no one has done that yet.

If you like a guy that gives you offense and you'll be able to live with him playing no defense, he's the guy for you.
His defense was fine, he isn't in his rookie year anymore. He isn't any worse than Briere and others in his own end and he back checked well, especially in the playoffs. He isn't going to wow anyone with his defensive play, but it isn't as awful as some people make it seem.

Sounds more like Briere than Zherdev. He's no Selke award winner, but Zherdev has gotten much better defensively.
