With just one regulation loss in their first seven games and a thrilling comeback victory on Saturday against Jose Theodore and the Colorado Avalanche, the Montreal Canadiens are playing with a lot confidence.

Enough confidence for defenceman Janne Niinimaa to make a bold prediction for the team's Monday matchup at the Bell Centre with the first-place Buffalo Sabres.

"The Sabres are playing well right now," Niinimaa told reporters at Sunday's practice. "But they are going to lose a game, and it's going to be on Monday."

That's nuts.

Oh, too late now.

They gotta' play one of their best games of the year if they're going to beat Buffalo.

Righ now they're losing 1-0. A terrible goal it was too.

Poor choice on his part.

And for a night where a player on a team made such a promise, his teammates sure did a good job of coasting.

I could see Kovalev trying to do it all by himself. Any time he does that I know that the team isn't bringing their 'A' game.

Markov also made a terrible giveaway to Drury when he was trying to cut into the offencive zone alone (since Ryder was still inside Buffalo's blueline). Nice goal, but it should never have happened.

When you really think about it, that game could have ended been much close than it did.

Though in the end they still lost.

Tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk.... What's Niinimaa going to say now? Why do people do that to themselves?
