Any NHL player who placed bets with the gambling ring being investigated by New Jersey authorities could be fined or face suspension, even if they are found not to have broken the law, according to Bill Daly, NHL deputy commissioner and chief legal counsel. As many as 12 former and current players are believed to have placed bets, though none apparently on hockey.

WOW.. after reading this im not sure what to think. Unless it’s stated in their contract that they cannot gamble on other sports (basketball, football, soccer, ping pong or whatever)... and its legal in their state, then what’s the issue?
Now you’re going to be suspended because your morals are in question :dunno:

Dumb and unreasonable! I hope any player found to be within their legal right who’s suspended goes after the league and makes the league accountable for their actions.
