What's the next retired number to go up? With the recent news of Mark Messier's 11 being retired who should be the next one to join Al Hamilton, Wayne Gretzky, Jari Kurri, and Grant Fuhr.
Anderson is a neat pick. 5 Stanley Cup rings from Edmonton, a sixth in a Ranger uniform. End of his career was a little bouncy as he went from club to club. Hopefully his personal life after hockey doesn't interfer with any accolades that he deserves.
Looking back at it if the Leafs hadn't run into Gretzky and the Kings in 1993 he might have picked up a seventh ring there. That was a great ex-Oiler series with so many playing for both teams.
1993 Leafs
Glenn Anderson
Mike Krushelnyski
Grant Fuhr
(Kent Manderville and Derek Berehowsky would go on and play for the Oilers after this series)
1993 Kings
Wayne Gretzky
Jari Kurri
Marty McSorely
Jimmy Carson
Charlie Huddy
Pat Conacher
(earlier in the season the Kings had Paul Coffey in the line up too)
Maybe not rush but I hate to see a team not acknowledge their history in some way. Wall of Honor or something to keep tabs on the great years. I used to have a book that had the retired jerseys listed for each NHL team...will see if I can find it. Montreal has a bunch as does Toronto, albeit those teams have 80 years of history behind them.
