VANCOUVER (CP) - New Vancouver Canucks head coach Alain Vigneault has fired the remainder of former coach Marc Crawford's remaining coaching staff, Vancouver radio station News1130 reported Saturday.

Vigneault met with both Mike Johnston and Jack McIlhargey this past Wednesday for an initial sit down, and informed them Friday that he would be going in a different direction.

Johnston has been with the Canucks since 1999, and has helped coach Canada's National team twice.

Johnston could end up either in Boston as the Bruins continue their search for a new head coach, or could re-unite with Crawford, who was recently hired in Los Angeles.

Jack McIlhargey has been a member of the Vancouver Canucks coaching staff and organization for the past 18 years and was a player between 1977 and 1980.
