(Sports Network) - What started out as a nightmare opening month of the 2006-07 season has turned into a pretty October for the Nashville Predators. After losing its first three games of the campaign, the Preds have ripped off six victories in seven contests to climb into a tie with Detroit for first place in the Central Division.

What's most impressive about this current run is that Nashville has done most of its damage on the road. The Predators swept a three-game swing through the New York metropolitan area from October 16-19, then later extended their road win streak to four games with Saturday's 3-2 triumph at Calgary.

Jason Arnott, Nashville's prized offseason free-agent acquisition, proved worthy of the lofty contract he signed over the summer against the Flames. The physical center scored two of the team's three goals and won an impressive 20 of the 27 face-offs he took.

Arnott is now tied with Scott Hartnell, the hero of Thursday's 4-3 home victory over San Jose, for the team lead with five goals. Hartnell lit the lamp twice versus the Sharks, including the tie-breaker with 2:29 left to play.
