Jagr is not overated look at the season he is having.

i agree also jagr is one of the best and most exciting players in the league. and not just for his fast start THIS SEASON. i think being happy and were you play help alot in how one plays the game. how happy can one be playing in washington?

when the rangers got him in 2003-04 for the last 31 games he went with 15 goals and 14 assist. NOT BAD STATS and this on a team with a bunch of star players who never fullfilled anything for the Rangers that was expected.

my vote has to go to players from The pre 2005-06 STRANGERS.

LINDROS, HOLIK, KOVALEV, LEETCH, NEDVED AND SO ON $$90 MILLION OF CRAP. I HATE PUTTING LEETCH THERE BUT HE IS OLD NOW.

A REAL STAR PLAYER SHOULD ALSO BE DEFINED AS HOW HE MAKES OTHERS AROUND HIM PLAY. AND IN JAGR'S CASE HE HAS BROUGHT SOME LIFE TO FELLOW CHECK MATES AND SPARK TO A YOUNG TEAM HE IS NOW ON.

HONORABLE MENTION GO'ES TO TEEMUE SELANNE AS ONE OF THE WORST.
ALSO ADD LINDROS IN WHEN HE GETS HIT IN THE HEAD AGAIN. :haha:

There are alot of overrated players, but Jagr, Lindros, Palffy, Leetch and about half the other people you guys are talking about, do not belong on those lists.

Jagr, there is no way he is overrated, Hes a ppg player on the days he doesnt try. Perhaps he is a player that doesnt put too much effort in the game, and you might not like him for that, but with his undeniable skill, overrated? no way

Lindros. Also, well over a point per game player before his injury. After 8 concussions how can you expect someone to be the same player that they were? The fact that he is still a point per game player after his injuries is just a testament to his ability

Palffy? Whoever suggested him is on crack, he might not be leading the league in scoring this year but 17 points in 15 games? +3 on a losing team? What are you guys on

Leetch cant be overrated just because he is old, he is still just as talented, you expect a players production to decrease when they get older, and his has a little, thats just natural. But he is still very very good.

i was classifying the stars as a group playing together for the rangers all sucked. although i do miss leetch's abbility at blocking shots and a still decent power play catlyst.

still lindros at a point a game doesnt reflect the amount of giveaways he had durring his rangers stint as being afraid of getting hit. one reason he will never be the dominating force he once was. try to play at the level you once played with your head always up trying not to take that extra hit. i do praise the effort he gave but he just was not the star the rangers thought they had traded for.

Martin St. Louis, hes good but not great, Lecavalier made him great, in the WCH, Lecavalier was unstoppable but St. Louis registered 2 points a goal and an assist. In Calgary St. Louis was marginal and then he went to Tampa and it took till this year for him to get good.
Marty St. Louis has played probably 80% of his games w/ Tampa on a line with Brad Richards.

The statements you made need to be backed up by more substance if you're going to make them, as they just sound like ramblings to me.

I guess St. Louis should thank Richards then.:wink

I think Richards has been the more consistent of the the three, but he doesn't quite have the top end talent of either one. Depends on if you want an up-and-down player like St. Louis or Lecavalier (although he's been good so far), or a consistent, 70-point player like Richards. Personally, I'd take Richards over either St. Louis or Lecavalier at this point, but maybe that's just me.

There are a lot of ways you can be overrated, one of them is payroll. If that's the case then the following people are overrated:
Everybody that went to arbitration(with a few exceptions).

Bouwmeester at this time of year is overrated, but he usually has a strong 2nd half.
Shane Doan can be considered overrated, he hasnt lived up to expectations yet.
Markus Naslund and Todd Bertuzzi are both overrated, naslund isnt performing 6 million dollars wise. Neither is Simon Gagne, and surprisingly Scott Gomez.

But to whom do I give the most overrated player in the NHL today? The most overrated is, drumroll please....

ED JOVANOVSKI. 7 million a year for this guy? Sure he's a +2, but for 7 million? He doesnt hit anybody anymore, his offense is on the decline, and lately he has been one of the less durable d-men in the league.

Alexei Yashin Has been the most OverpAid Player in this league for the last little while... I understand that he brings 65 points year in year out but for 6.7 million - your expecting a bit more points - lot's of leadership and a playoff guy ... your not getting any of that right now ... His skill cannot be put in doubt - and this Year Nolan seems to have turned him around ...but he's still one of the most overpaid underacheiver's in the league...

Crusty.. yea that's a biased answer. I guess Naslund isn't performing up to what he's being paid. As someone said Jovi is overpaid also in comparisson to what he does.
It's comments like this that will force me to eat you. :wink

Markus Naslund is worth what he's being paid. He's playing a responsible two way game, along with leading the team in goals playing alongside underachiever Brendan Morrison and the flavor of the week. Markus Naslund without a doubt is the Canucks' best player.
