NHL goaltenders beware - Alexander Ovechkin thinks more curve on his hockey stick will help him shoot even harder.

The Washington Capitals phenom, who scored 52 goals as a rookie last season, likes the league's decision to allow more severe curves on stick blades this season.

Sticks can now have a maximum curve of three-quarters of an inch, up from a half-inch.

''I think it's going to help European players,'' Ovechkin said this week. ''Canadian and American players like more of a straight (stick).

''For me, if I have a bigger curve, I can shoot faster.''
