Halifax Mooseheads General Manager Marcel Patenaude announced today the acquisition of 20-year-old winger Jean-Sebastien Cote in a trade with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens. In return, the Mooseheads sent a seventh round selection In the 2007 QMJHL Entry Draft and a sixth round pick in 2008 to the Sagueneens

The 5'08, 172 pound Cote was originally drafted by the Rimouski Oceanic in the fifth round, 69th overall, of the 2002 QMJHL Entry Draft. He was traded by the Oceanic to Chicoutimi on Dec. 19, 2005.

Cote missed time this season with an injury, but has played in 19 games with Chicoutimi, registering six goals and two assists. Last season, with Rimouski and Chicoutimi, Cote amassed 44 points, 19 goals, 25 assists.

"We always liked Jean-Sebastien Cote and think our fans will warm to his style of play," Patenaude said. "We feel he always played very well against us, especially in the 2005 league final and are pleased to add him to our lineup. We expect he will bring a lot of energy, experience and speed to our hockey club."
