Sportsnet.ca -- Eugene Melnyk continues to collect hockey teams the way Jay Leno collects cars.
The current owner of the Ottawa Senators and the Ontario Hockey League's Toronto St. Michael's Majors purchased the Mississauga IceDogs from owner Mario Forgione.
Details of the purchase were not disclosed.
"We are extremely thankful to the Mississauga community and the many loyal fans that have continually supported the club throughout the past three seasons," said Forgione.
The IceDogs have had a tumultous existence since being founded in 1997. Under the original owner, hockey icon Don Cherry, the club suffered through four losing seasons and had six coach changes, including Cherry himself.
