A cynic might suggest that you can't make chicken salad out of chicken you know what. With injuries to Marty Havlat, Michal Handzus and Nikolai Khabibulin, the miracle isn't that Trent Yawney had only seven wins in 21 games as head coach of the Chicago Blackhawks this year, but that he had any at all.

But when the head coach, in this case Yawney, and the general manager, in this case Dale Tallon, clearly aren't on the same page in terms of style of play and personnel issues, well, you know how that goes.

When Yawney said recently after one game he hoped everyone was happy with underachieving Tony Salmelainen's ice time, it was a not so veiled shot at the GM. The writing was on the wall that this relationship was going to end, and end badly for Yawney.
