The hearing for the Evgeni Malkin case has been set for Nov. 9.

That's when a U.S. District court in New York will hear the arguments from Russian club team Metallurg Magnitigorsk, as it attempts to block Malkin from playing for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Last week, Magnitigorsk and Russian club Yaroslavl filed suit against the Penguins, the NHL, the Calgary Flames and the Edmonton Oilers over the status of Malkin and fellow Russians Andrei Taratukhin and Alexei Mikhnov.

Magnitigorsk officials maintain that the highly-touted NHL rookie has a valid contract with the Russian team. The NHL contends the players followed Russian labor laws in discharging themselves from their Russian team contracts, and maintains Malkin legally exercised his right to escape the contract by serving notice as per Russian labour laws.
