Barrie, ON- Hockey Canada today announced from Calgary, Alberta that Barrie Colts centre Bryan Little has earned a roster spot with Team Canada's Under-20 World Junior Hockey Team.
Final cuts were announced this morning after the conclusion of the Selection Camp in Calgary. A total of 22 players (13 forwards, 7 defenseman, 2 goaltenders) were named to this year's team that will compete in the 2007 Tournament to be held from December 26 to January 5 in Leksand, Sweden.
Little, 19, becomes the first Colts player to earn a roster spot since goaltender Bryan Finley participated in the 2000 tournament. A first round pick of the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2006 NHL Draft, Little is currently third in the OHL in total points with 62 (24g-38a) through 30 games, and was named the league's player of the month for November.
His previous international experience includes a pair of gold medals; one with Team Ontario in the 2004 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge and the other as a member of the National Under-18 Summer Team that captured gold in the 2004 World Junior Cup in Breclav, Czech Republic.
