John-Michael Liles will get off easy for his hit on Ryan Smyth last Tuesday.

According to the Rocky Mountain News, Liles was hit with a fine for his dangerous hit on Smyth in the waning seconds of the 2-1 loss to Edmonton.

Liles did not say how much he was fined, but the NHL collective-bargaining agreement allows for a maximum of $2,500.

Should he have been suspended? I think so,so next time he thinks twice before you hit someone knee on knee.

He should have been suspended for at least 5 games, plus the fine!!!

It was such a deliberate act. It shouldn't even be up for debate!!

$2,500 is peanuts for any NHL player. Liles should have been suspended a game or two for that hit. Smyth could have been injured a lot worse than he was. Thankfully he wasn't
That was a persons comment underneath the article and I would have to agree with them. $2,500 is basically nothing to NHL players but it's not like you can fine them thousands of dollars either. A suspension would have made more sense in my opinion Smyth could have got seriously injured and that would be a huge blow to the Oilers.
