Leafs might have interest in bringing back Brian Leetch, but they've got plenty of company in chase for veteran blueliner

MONTREAL -- Will Brian Leetch be wearing a Maple Leaf this season?

Source say if Toronto GM John Ferguson Jr. has his way, the 38-year-old unrestricted free agent could be patrolling the club's blue line again.

It's believed Ferguson has held discussions with Leetch's agent, Jay Grossman, but needs to find a way to fit him under the salary cap.

The Leafs are not alone in their pursuit of Leetch, who hasn't decided if he is going to play or retire after spending last season with Boston.

The Flyers, Bruins and the New York Rangers (another one of Leetch's former teams) have all made calls to Grossman because they're all searching for blue-line help. Leetch is in no hurry to make a decision.

"(Leetch) has not made any decisions about the season so far," Grossman told the Philadelphia Inquirer's Tim Panaccio last week. "We've been contacted by a number of teams about playing this season. There are a number of things Brian has to sort through. He's made no decision (on) his personal situation."

Well, with the injuries to Toronto's blueline, it is something to consider, but in all honesty I think he should hang'em up if the "situation" that he's been occupied with all off-season is that serious.

Not to mention that I'd want room for Cola to play when he gets back, and Kubina isn't exactly out for half the season.

But of course, knee injuries can sometimes be a tricky thing...
