(Sports Network) - The Toronto Maple Leafs have been very up and down so far, and they take that tendency into Columbus tonight to face the Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena.

Toronto has alternated wins and losses in the early season, including Wednesday's 4-1 setback to visiting Colorado. John-Michael Liles scored two goals to lift the Avalanche.

Bates Battaglia tallied the lone goal for the Leafs, while Andrew Raycroft allowed four goals on 26 shots in the loss. Raycroft kept the team in the match, but the Leafs were simply too flat and slow-paced to be a factor.

In six appearances with the Leafs so far, Raycroft is 3-2-1 with a 2.27 goals- against average and .923 save percentage. He has one shutout and has stopped 169 of the 183 shots he has faced.

Raycroft, of course, was acquired from Boston during the NHL Entry Draft after having a down year for the Bruins.

Toronto will host the NY Rangers on Saturday.

Columbus, meanwhile, has been off since last Saturday and checks in at 2-1-1. Last time out the Blue Jackets dropped a 5-0 contest to Minnesota, as Brian Rolston scored twice to lift the Wild.
