MISSISSAUGA, Ont. (CP) - Veteran Chris Lawrence scored three goals in the third period, including two within an eight-second span to break open a tight game, and the Mississauga IceDogs went on to a 7-2 victory over the Barrie Colts Friday night in the Ontario Hockey League.
Lawrence, who scored a pair of goals Thursday night against Toronto, now has 30 on the season as the IceDogs (27-15-0-2) closed to within seven points of the front-running Colts (31-12-0-1) in the Central Division standings.
"It was definitely a good win against a good team because the wins are harder to come by late in the season," said Lawrence, who now has 56 points.
Oskar Osala, Barry Sanderson, Jean-Michel Rizk and Brett Oliphant scored the other goals for the IceDogs.
Stefan Della Rovere and Vladimir Nikiforov scored for the Colts, who went into the third period tied 2-2.
