Off the top of my head:

Henrik Zetterberg was selected by the Detroit Red Wings 210th overall in the seventh round of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft

Pavel Datsyuk was selected by the Detroit Red Wings 171st overall in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft

Tommy Salo was selected by New York Islanders round 5, #118 overall in the 1993 NHL Entry draft

Martin Erat was selected 191st overall, in the 7th round of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft

Mike Comrie was selected ninety-first overall, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, by his hometown Edmonton Oilers

Can you think of any more?

Pavel Bure - 113th Overall, 1989 Vancouver Canucks

For having the second most point total in a career for an NHL player, Mark Messier at 48th Overall, 1979 Edmonton Oilers was a steal.

Trent Hunter - 150th Overall, 1998, Anaheim ducks

For being considered the greatest goaltender of his era, and all-time, Patrick Roy at 51st Overall, 1984, Montreal Canadians

Brett Hull - 117th Overall, 1984, Calgary Flames

Henrik Lundqvist of course 205th overall.

Tom Glavine 4th round, 69th overall by the kings thought to be a gem find but went on to win over 300 MLB games as a pitcher still a gem feat. :haha:

Luc Robitaille was a 9th round pick by LA
Dave Taylor was a 12th round pick by LA dont know the spots they were picked in, but boy were LA doing their homework late in the draft.
I also believe Theo Fleury was a 8th or 9th rounder by Calgary and prior to his bizarre antics, he was a steal.

I don't know if this counts but Martin St. Louis went completely undrafted and was signed by Calgary

Trent Hunter?
Turning into a very solid two way player and does have the offensive talent, he just never reached that peak again. Personally, I believe his numbers will get better soon although. The previous Isles franchise was not built for the likes of DP and Hunter. A.K.A Yashin etc.

For those who consider him the best defensemen of his era;

Niklas Lidstrom 53rd Overall, 1989 Detroit Red Wings.

Probably there best pick of the entire 90's.

So far, Messier was the best. I didnt realize he was a 3rd rounder.

Lidstrom would be in the same category seeing as they both werent beyond the 4th round.

Late rounds?....call me a homer, but Zetterberg and Datsyuk. Holmstrom.

All the others have been mentioned. Hull, Robitalle, Roy, Suter, Kipper, etc.

Hasek comes to mind. Undrafted, if I am not mistaken.
